With Hands in the Earth
Observing nature has always been the starting point of my work: its forms, textures and rhythms. After nearly two decades dedicated to flowers and landscape design, that botanical language remains alive in my studio, now expressed through porcelain.
At María Vergara Lab, I work directly with real botanical elements to create my own moulds. I do not invent forms; I capture the imperfections, the veins and the memory of what was once alive. Each mould preserves the details and irregularities of the original plant, transferring its imprint to porcelain.
The limited lifespan of these moulds determines the production of small series, made using the slip-casting technique in my studio in Spain. An artisanal, intuitive and unhurried process in which time, material and experimentation are essential to every creation.
